Satisfy Pays Tribute to Joe Strummer With "Run! Punk Run!" Capsule

Updated: Dec 9, 2020

Featuring never-before-seen imagery of The Clash frontman running the London Marathon.

Parisian running label Satisfy has followed up its “Inner Trip Center” capsule with a new selection paying tribute to The Clash‘s Joe Strummer. Fittingly titled “Run! Punk Run!,” the collection is inspired by photographs of Strummer running the 1983 London Marathon captured by Steve Rapport.

These images are printed on items throughout the collection, including Satisfy’s signature recycled cotton Moth Eaten T-shirts and Muscle Tees. The imagery used in the collection was captured by Rapport while he was shooting for Rolling Stone, before being put in storage when he relocated to San Francisco in the 1990s. Satisfy has worked with Rapport to recover his archive, including the never-before-seen imagery of Joe Strummer that features in this capsule.

As well as pieces featuring Rapport’s imagery, other items include plain Moth Eaten tops, running shorts and caps, all of which celebrate the Strummer’s approach to running, which he enjoyed as it gave him a space “to think without being bothered.” The collection features a predominantly black and white color palette, offset with hits of fuchsia and leopard print in tribute to Strummer’s spirit.

The full “Run! Punk Run!” collection available now via the Satisfy web store.
